Hay fever is a seasonal disorder that occurs in a hypersensitivity reaction to substances in the air, such as grass, birch and pollen.
SYMPTOMS
In hay fever, the symptoms come from the mucous membranes of the upper respiratory tract and most often appear as red eyes running in water, stuffy nose, sneezing and watery runny nose. In addition, dry throat with a rough cough and possibly. asthma attack. Some also experience headaches due to swollen mucous membranes.
TREATMENT IN THE PUBLIC HEALTH SYSTEM
A spot test or RAST examination can most often determine what is provoking hay fever. Several preparations can be used to alleviate the symptoms, most of which contain antihistamines. It is also possible to take part in a course with allergy vaccinations. The course takes up to 5 years.
CAUSES
In hay fever, there is an allergic reaction to things in the air, which causes histamine secretion, whereupon the mucous membranes swell and cause symptoms. People suffering from hay fever can also react to foods as there is a cross-reaction. If there is a reaction to pollen, foods such as tomato and apple in some cases trigger symptoms.
The tendency to develop hypersensitivity is hereditary. Several genes play a role, but far from all of them or their interactions are far from known.
NORDIC CLINICS TREATMENT
Studies show that people who as a child suffered from eczema due to food reactions, and who still consume the foods, tend to develop hay fever. It may therefore be appropriate to identify the foods that are reacted to and to exclude these foods. Nordic Clinic uses a food intolerance analysis that easily and quickly states which foods are reacted to. We also use a stool analysis to identify imbalances indigestion. The imbalances can be, for example, a lack of lactic acid bacteria, digestive enzymes and stomach acid. Likewise, the test can show if there is an overgrowth of bacteria, fungi or parasites that interfere with digestion.
Of course, there is also guidance in individual diets, which strengthen your immune system so that future symptoms can be alleviated.
