Skizofrenia

Schizophrenia is a disease of the brain that causes changes in thoughts and behaviours.

SYMPTOMS

The disease can be characterized by periods when one is unable to distinguish between reality and one’s own perceptions. Symptoms such as sleep disturbances, difficulty concentrating, apathy, isolation and self-neglect may occur.

TREATMENT IN THE PUBLIC HEALTH SYSTEM

The diagnosis is made i.a. by conversation and observation. The treatment consists of three parts; antipsychotic medication, talk therapy and social measures.

CAUSES

The cause of schizophrenia is unknown. Hereditary conditions are important in interaction with environmental factors.

NORDIC CLINICS TREATMENT

Studies show that many schizophrenics have a low amount of healthy oils as well as antioxidants in the body. They also have a higher incidence of diabetes and cardiovascular disease, which is most often due to the medication effect. The food we eat has great significance for the body’s function both physically and mentally. At Nordic Clinic, the treatment will include recommendations of a diet that excludes those foods that adversely affect the schizophrenic brain and recommend diets and supplements that provide the brain with optimal conditions to work under. Incomplete digestion of milk and gluten can lead to the formation of neuropeptides. The neuropeptides can affect the central nervous system and further aggravate the condition of schizophrenics. Nordic Clinic uses a urine analysis in the treatment, to assess whether the person forms neuropeptides by consuming milk and gluten. In addition, it will also be investigated whether there is an overgrowth of fungi and bacteria. It is most often expressed as a thin stomach, foul-smelling stools or abdominal pain. This can be detected by a urine sample.
